You just can’t make this stuff up!
Lincoln County Commissioners, via their “Chief of Staff” Stephen P. Allen, MBA, are opposing (in their official capacity!) the WSL Revenue Committee’s proposal to repeal the nuclear energy tax exemption!
Wait! Isn’t the Revenue Committee supposed to be concerned with sources of revenue for the state and counties?!
Wait! Wouldn’t that tax bring revenue to Lincoln County?! What do the citizens of Lincoln County think?? Were they ever asked??
Are Lincoln County Commissioners concerned that a tax on the Natrum Project might make Bill Gates just go away?
You can read for yourself their HILARIOUS LETTER here, but here are some of the low points – that they are actually trying to sell as high points:
- By repealing the the nuclear energy tax exemption the Revenue Committee would be “disincentivizing companies from developing Wyoming’s natural resource and the opportunity to become a supplier“.
- “By statute, the Wyoming Counties are “deemed to have special expertise on all subject matters for which it has statutory responsibility, including but not limited to, all subject matters directly or indirectly related to the health, safety, welfare, custom, culture and socio-economic viability of a county.”
- They refer to a BOGUS Wyoming Business Council Survey taken last month in an attempt to create the justification for RE-IMAGINING not just our economy but our CULTURE across the state of Wyoming, and most especially Lincoln County – the grand Mecca for economic development projects and grants today.
Here’s are some questions for Lincoln County residents:
If Bill Gates/Terra Power/PacifiCorp has to pay a nuclear energy tax will it hurt your health, safety, welfare, customs, culture or socio-economic viability in any way or form??
Is this “special expertise” what you voted for when you elected your current county commissioners?
