The “Nuclear Renaissance” Executive Orders issued by President Trump has unleashed a whirlwind of chaos in the state that has quickly created uncertainty, fear and distrust in Wyoming citizens. The speed at which various nuclear projects are being proposed and announced has had a dizzying effect on everyone – citizens, lawmakers and industry insiders! (Even Industry Insiders Find It Hard To Keep Up With Wyoming Nuclear Boom, May 29, 2025).
Lawmakers pushing the nuclear agenda this hard and this fast is creating more citizen distrust, rather than alleviating it. Where some WY law makers have insulted Wyoming citizens who question and/or oppose nuclear by calling them “too stupid” (Senator Bo Biteman) or “environmental terrorists” (Senator James Anderson), those type of abuses seem to actually confirm that the suspicion and distrust of elected officials is entirely appropriate.
Wyomingites have been asked time and time again, since at least 1992, if they want spent nuclear fuel stored in the state of Wyoming and the answer has always been, by a resounding majority of Wyomingites, NO! While a certain portion of citizens “support nuclear energy”, a large percentage of those same people do not want the spent nuclear fuel stored here. (Until a permanent storage facility is established in the USA, as was promised with the cancelled Yucca Mountain project, a state cannot generate nuclear energy without storing its spend fuel on site.)
Whether it is the Governor, the WY Legislative Minerals Committee, or local town councils – Wyomingites sense that their elected officials are deceiving them while simultaneously squelching their voices:
- Governor Gordon, after signing a Tri-State Energy MOU at the April 29, 2025 Nuclear Energy Summit in Utah, never once mentioned “nuclear energy” in his Apr 29 Press Release to Wyoming citizens! Utah Governor Cox, on the other hand, specifically spoke of nuclear energy throughout his press release.
- On July 30th certain members of the WY Legislative Minerals Committee (Senators James Anderson and Tara Nethercott): Snapped, cussed and slammed their gavel at constituents; inserted long-winded interruptions ensuring that public comment would be postponed to the eleventh hour, hoping Wyoming citizens would tire and just go home (Prostituting Wyoming: A Front Row Seat at the Minerals Committee, Aug 4, 2025).
- After the Aug 5th City Council meeting, the whistle was blown on Rock Springs City Councilman Eric Bingham for nepotism and conflict of interest regarding an MOU to hire his wife to be a temporary public-relations worker for their nuclear “propaganda” project.
- During the Aug 19th Gillette City Council Meeting WY Senator Troy McKeown (SD24, Campbell County) excoriated Mayor Shay Lundvall and the city council for violating public trust by conducting secret nuclear negotiations and signing a Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with BWXT.
- At the Sept 2nd townhall meeting Bar Nunn Mayor Peter Boyer argued with WY House Rep Bill Allemand (HD58) (who was there representing a majority of his constituents who oppose the storage of spent nuclear waste in Bar Nunn) telling Allemand to ‘sit down and shut up’. Boyer also announced to attending citizens that ‘public comments are a privilege‘ rather than a right for his tax-paying, voting constituents.
Deception of the public by elected officials is now part of the nuclear renaissance in Wyoming.
This is why this website has been created – to give fellow Wyoming citizens the facts and the truth as we find it.
