- Meta – Cheyenne: Recently signed a massive deal to lock in up to 6.6 GW of nuclear power through agreements with providers including TerraPower and Oklo. These deals are expected to support Meta’s artificial intelligence infrastructure, including potential expansions in Wyoming.715,000-square-foot facility (High Plains Business Park, south of Cheyenne) is poised to become a cornerstone of Meta’s global operations to power Meta’s services (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.) with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.
- Prometheus Hyperscale – Evanston: This developer is building a 1-gigawatt (GW) data center campus on Aspen Mountain near Evanston. They have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Oklo to buy 100 MW of carbon-free energy from Oklo’s Aurora Powerhouse nuclear units. (Note: Prometheus also plans a data center in Casper which they say will be powered with natural gas.)

* Mary Throne served as a WY Legislator from 2007 – 2017, and was later appointed by Governor Gordon in 2019 to serve on the Wyoming Public Service Commission.
- Sabey Data Centers: A leading developer that has entered into a strategic collaboration with TerraPower. They aim to deploy TerraPower’s Natrium advanced nuclear technology to provide power for their data centers in the Rocky Mountain region.

TerraPower’s Natrium plant is currently under construction in Kemmerer, WY:

- Capacity: The 345 MW sodium-cooled reactor features a molten salt energy storage system that can boost output to 500 MW during peak demand.
- Timeline: Non-nuclear construction began in June 2024, with the plant expected to be operational by 2030.
- Impact: The proximity of this plant is expected to attract additional AI data centers to western Wyoming, as companies seek “behind the meter” carbon-free power to avoid overloading the public grid.
NOTE:
- TerraPower still has an active MOU with Rock Mountain Power/PacifiCorp to analyze the potential for more nuclear powers plants at other coal plant sites scheduled for closure.
